This is my review of the book Carmelita by Meagan O’Toole Pitts, illustrated by Ashton Kaleigh.

This illustrated book, intended for grade 5 and up, is based on the true story of a 17-year-old border heroine, Carmelita Torres, who inspired the 1917 Bath Riots.
