I had this frustration when working with this musicians advocacy group. They were stuck in this kind of unimaginative worker / bosses trope when it was clearly more of a tenant / digital landlord argument they were trying to make.

To that I say, we need it all! We need public schooling that is well funded and regularly updated. We need private schools that can experiment and model new education solutions. And most of all, we need give young people the keys to choose how they learn and work to remove the barriers in their way.

There are also less conspiracy reasons. Academic communists seem to purposefully create a high barrier of entry through various mechianisms, mostly sorting out those with a low threshold for boredom. But as a youth worker there is def an uptick in those passionate for the label but not the ideology.

I have an impression that this is phenomenon is mostly by design, or by competition of designs. The uptick in online communism could be a psyop from Russia to undermine US propaganda, and it becoming memefied being by design by the US to take the teeth out of it.
