Since 1990, I’ve been looking at Ireland’s water quality horrors and the EU’s casual acceptance of it. Until Ireland accepts that its ag practices are leading to its ecological death and that Sitka spruce farms are a failed experiment, nothing will change. I rarely see birds or mammals in Donegal.

U.S. Air Force B-1 And B-52 Bombers Now Striking Iran From The UK The U.S. Air Force now operates three distinct bomber aircraft, all of which can trace their development back to the Cold War.

US bombers loading up on UK airstrips before raining down bombs on Iran.

Parliament wasn't consulted - and polling shows huge numbers oppose it.

When do MPs get a say over our involvement in this war?

Me reading about the war in the papers and seeing the statements from the EU:

"It's so awful and so sad that so many oils have been killed and injured. And so many of them just young oils with their whole oil life ahead of them"

Fuel poverty doesn’t stay in the utility bill. Cold, damp homes drive respiratory illness, heart disease, and poor mental health.

Every family that can’t afford to heat their home is more likely to need the NHS - and less likely to access the care they need.

Spain could be the only EU country to beat energy price hikes Spain spent the last six years investing heavily in wind and solar energy, leading to some of the cheapest power prices in Europe.

Huge investments in renewable energy have made Spain more independent from fossil fuel imports, and less vulnerable to the surging prices following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran

An end to fossil fuels is better for the climate and people's bills – and takes power away from tyrants

A new report shows hitting our climate targets by 2050 costs less than one oil shock costs the UK.

We need a rapid transition to clean energy to shield people & the economy from price spikes every time oil prices jump.

Some commentators still can’t connect those dots…

The gas-powered data center craze has come to Europe.

Yesterday, a 110MW off-grid AI data center outside of Dublin was switched on - and it's powered entirely by fossil fuels.

Developers went with natural gas engines (specifically RICE) to bypass the grid connection queue. They claim the engines "could" be switched to HVO, and that the project will attempt to connect to the grid "when possible".

What does this mean for Ireland's climate goals? According to my estimates, this single project will increase the entire country's annual GHG emissions by ~1%.

Assumptions:
- The project seems to be using Rolls Royce (mtu) 4000 Series RICE which have an electrical efficiency of 44% https://lnkd.in/eRX4PRuf
- Modifying the NREL life cycle gas emissions factor with this efficiency yields 656.75 gCO2e/kWh https://lnkd.in/gfgs2X6P
- Assuming a 90% capacity factor because AI hyperscale data centers run near 24/7 to recoup massive GPU costs
- Ireland’s 2024 GHG emissions = 53.8 million tCO2e https://lnkd.in/ejjRgRpE

Renewable generation and discharging storage equalled 74% of yesterday's electricity demand, with a peak of 88% at 00:45. Fossil fuel generation (mostly gas) equalled 24% of demand. 3% of generation was exported, 5% of demand was met by imports.

Is this really how the world went to war? Pity the diplomat who sees their honest efforts for peace go up, literally, in smoke. The story is fiction, but the shocking facts are real

The Omanis confirm US Iran negotiations were on verge of a nuclear deal.

Zero uranium stockpiles, full inspections, & “never, ever” pursuing a bomb, yet US & Israel rage 'Epic Fury' war anyway.

A chilling account of a fictional diplomat, as he sees his efforts literally go up in smoke.
