Ranked choice districts basically mean candidates have lanes so you speak. You’re not getting two socialists in D4, the demographics just don’t support that possibility rn

The big question is if we can have a consistent path for socialist policies through electoral politics at all. Like I question the ability for our ranked choice system to allow the council to have the majority needed for those policies to move forward with less to no friction

I get that but I also recognize that our progressive councilors often play on the defensive due to a moderate council and reactionary big business interests undermining them at every step. Like the peacock ethics complaint has undermined so much and it’s ultimately a nothing sandwich

Ideally something like social housing, inner east side for all and just in general creating a more robust and dense city center. Become less reliant on tourism/office worker business and more reliant on residents that live day to day in the city proper. This is long term vision ofc
