Very astute observation that “centrist” among the political class usually refers to elected legislators as opposed to voters. In mainstream discourse it refers to a class of voters that doesn’t really exist, I don’t think

if you're making a WW2 movie based on true events set in 1945, you can't have characters make reference to the Geneva Conventions

I think it's the opposite: organize harder, because Trump's low approval rating doesn't guarantee victory
If he did that they'd be like why is he not being sober and deliberate
This was a fun convo! Give it a listen
only the mantis shrimp truly knows the difference between ecru and eggshell
Only quietly under my breath
Well I still haven’t given up on “momentarily” meaning “for a moment” when most people use it incorrectly to mean “in a moment” so
Which is exactly what I said in my original response. It’s usually used to mean centrist, which is incorrect
I consider myself a moderate leftist
Talarico id say is also a moderate leftist if only in presentation. His views are very lefty but he doesn’t come off as strident or radical, so he appeals to other moderates
Many moderates will take liberal or conservative positions but only when asked because they’re not super engaged
Other moderates can take on extreme positions but be open to discussion
My views are pretty far left but I’m not absolutist and I’m open to compromise and good faith discussion so
“Centrist” refers to where you are on the left - right political spectrum. I’d argue it almost doesn’t exist anymore.
“Moderate” refers to a relative lack of fervor for whatever your position is.
So …
I think "moderate" and "centrist" aren't interchangeable terms, but are often used as if they are
I think Trump genuinely doesn’t know what an asylum claim is, and heard the word one day and assumed it meant insane asylums and nobody has corrected him
Has anyone tried to explain to him what asylum means, do we think?

When Dr Robby & Dana were surveying the chaos my teen kid said “they’re the parents”
That’s not true everywhere - 18 states have open primaries. Wisconsin (where I live) doesn’t even have party registration.
