Can't wait for GDC this year
@klightgrove
Engineer in the startup space with almost a decade of running online communities under his belt. Talking about #gamedev, #unity, and #indie games when I'm not drowning under my tickets. Supporting indie creators is our greatest charge.
Can't wait for GDC this year
I replayed it because I was curious how the game difference by class and companion, and your choices too. Theres so much complexity though that its hard to routinely replay the game without the wiki on hand.
Pro #gamedev tip: donโt ask a dev why they want GDC [Festival of Gaming] moved to another city.
You like #indie games? We had 50 devs work on a submission for #brackeys this year and are now hard at work preparing for the Steam release. Don't let people tell you that the ideal team size is 4, they are hiding the truth from you. Bigger is better.

Discovered the best team size for a #gamejam is 50. Why arenโt more gamedevs doing this?
I really should post more, guess Iโll do deep dives into cool jam games I find
tfw you are almost 6 months into the year and havent done a game yet

Hey #PortfolioDay! I'm Olive and I do pixel art & animation :3
I do a lot of gameboy-compatible stuff but I also like experimenting with my style!
He co-founded Red 5 Studios after working 8 years at Blizzard as a producer.
At Red 5 he infamously destroyed his career by spending the studio budget on an e-sports bus for marketing material, worth $3 million.
He was then forced out of the company in 2013.
where did you get it then
where does one acquire an unreal engine 2 these days
wait seth rogen was supposed to have presented at gdc????
Is this about GTA V
because that meditation was anything but lol
Some of the most successful games of all time build long-term playerbases through exploration. Wonder what makes people think this is no longer relevant.
the absence of twitter is finally having an impact as people take their dev drama to linkedin now
or use the GDC tag / posts to find new people too
In the same vein, we don't go as hard on devs for casually using media they don't own in prototypes or jams. For prototyping, anything should be fair game imo.
The point of prototyping is that you don't use production quality assets and that you are both fast and cheap.
> no experience with gamedev
> under the Game Dev category
I had no idea we can even get ribbons ๐ญ
As studios invest in these solutions and they under deliver, we will see the bubble slowly break until the remnants of these startups get absorbed by Epic, Unity, or another company to have their tech become a small part of the pipeline.
Hopefully sooner than later, or they don't invest at all.
As for which parts of the bubble will burst? Web3 is on its last legs along with blockchain. NFTs are a relic of the past. It's all GenAI now.
Virtual NPCs for your game, creating models from photos, generated animations, localization services, and of course art.
I've chatted with folks at GDC about the AI bubble. The consensus is that regardless of your area, to get venture capital you have to pitch your product as involving AI. It's such a boilerplate word now but context should give away which AI we are discussing imo.
When the bathrooms only have 3 sinks and half the hand sanitizer stations are empty ๐ฎโ๐จ
gonna need a portable air fryer to hand out all those fried pickles
The questions now are
1, how will AAA circumvent this
2. how can indies adapt
@notgdc.io
i was trying to think of a clever joke about why are you watching Pittsburgh but then i look up the show and thats literally it
fun fact! the flight time from sfo to dfw is only slightly longer than if you were in the gdc crepe line at the expo hall.
and as im nearing almost a decade of volunteer work ive been thinking about criticisms people have. obviously it takes privilege to do this, but the fulfillment of helping inclusive communities grow makes it worthwhile
something I do for funsies is being a casting agent for a content creator. and wow, the sheer amount of spam emails is ludicrous. might need to just make another email dedicated to this and add extra hoops for people to contact me lol.
