Yesterday I read an article about information being made available on the Blockchain, so it can never be deleted (it was classified info currently on wikileaks). As open research folk, do we need to engage with what blockchains might mean for making info/data permanently available for free?

I helped to organise an ALN event this morning on how HE libraries can support asylum seeker and refugee communities. We heard about so many amazing resources and services that University of Leeds, Lancaster University and University of Chester Libraries have been providing. It was very inspiring! ❤️

And finally we heard from Alison Sharman, Kate McGuinn, Rachel Welch and Erika Butane about their human library events. They have produced a really useful tookit for those thinking about organising their own human library event: hud.libguides.com/HL
Nest up was Kirsty Carver and Tony Wilson presenting their project on library services for international students. They are currently writing up a report which will be disseminated across ALN in the new year.
Then we heard from Sarah Bishop about their project which aimed to highlight racist tropes & to encourage people to consider what it means to be anti-racist. Sarah has produced an anti racist toolkit in collaboration with Marsha Garratt and this will be released in the new year.
Next up was Nicola Euston and Emily Parsons talking about their project that aimed to help students view their cultural collections through an EDI lens. They produced 2 videos as part of the project: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eMK... and www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyWc....
We also heard from @lesley-e.bsky.social and James Stephens about library access and support for local refugee and asylum seekers. They have produced a libguide as part of the project: lancaster.libguides.com/refugee
