Today on my blog, I talk about marriage licenses in the Regency. annerollins.com/2024/08/29/m...
Trays of edible eyeballs that I'm making for a space fantasy movie.
Thought I'd lπk into BlueSky today since I have all these eyes I've made for a movie I'm working on.
Hope I don't scare anyone with this image but I can't help it -- after all, I am a horror food stylist.

And this is why the Hannibal fandom is still going strong almost a decade after the show ended! π
#fannibals #Hannibal #Hannigram #yestheyreallyareTHATGAY!
Smol update. So I have been watching and listening to #Hannibal's first season. I might keep it open like that other miniature.
The final #FinishUrBookFall part 2 = check-in. A Remedy of Love is first-drafted, clocking in at 85,362 words. Thing is, I wrote it during lockdown! This exercise has coaxed it out for a much-needed airing, and my aim is to second-draft it by the end of 2024. π€π» #writerslife
The final #FinishUrBookFall part 1 = my creative process. Best part: the research, losing myself in a bygone era, wandering around countless stately homes as scenes from the novel unfold in my mind. Worst part: with a full-time job and a family, finding the time to write!
βWhat say you to a race?β βI say that is a fine idea. We shall be warmed up in no time. How many laps do you propose?β The playful nature of this response raised Pipβs spirits and woke in him an answering liveliness. βSix?β Fair brows rose. βIf you are certain. That is quite a distance.β βOh, I am quite certain.β Pip struggled to contain his glee as they took parallel starting positions. He knew what Lucky would be thinking, for it was far from the first time he had been underestimated as a competitor. But while Lucky undoubtedly had the greater strength, Pip had agility and speed. And never yet had he lost a race. They counted down in unison, pushed off against the silty bottom, and the world narrowed to a blur of frothing waters and glinting sun. When Pip glided to touch shore for the final time, he was mere seconds ahead - but ahead he was. Exhilarated, he hauled himself out of the water and collapsed face first onto the grassy bank.
A second excerpt from Chapter 1 of A Remedy of Love for #FinishUrBookFall:
Portrait of a Regency era lady wearing a red dress and gold turban.
Mynah bird in traditional cage.
#FinishUrBookFall this week = side character! My favourite in A Remedy of Love is the Dowager Viscountess Forsythe - Stoker to her friends - a vastly eccentric aunt of Lucianβs who resides in Berkeley Square. Her pet mynah bird, Mason, delights in hurling insults at visitors. π

That sounds fab! I have toyed rather more seriously with doing a Persuasion AU - bringing in Mizumono feels to the earlier breakup, etc. Itβs my second favourite Austen after P&P.

One day I might write a Hannigram S&S fic. Itβs just that I could never decide which couple they should be - and who would constitute the other pair!
#FinishUrBookFall = book love! Rather than reccing a recent read, Iβm going to rec my favourite novel and chief inspiration: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. Itβs witty, arch, romantic, clever, timeless. An original choice? Hardly. But itβs the reason I write so π€·ββοΈ.

This weekβs #FinishUrBookFall: goals! So. My dreams for this book? 1) That I finish it by next spring. 2) That it ends up being a book that Iβm proud to call mine. 3) That it finds its audience, wherever and however that may be. 4) That it makes people happy.

Wrap up warm! The Child of Hameln by Max Turner is a gritty, bittercold novella set in a town that's been holding onto one too many secrets. We'll be holding an online book launch next week with

This weekβs #FinishUrBookFall is about setting! A Remedy for Love takes place in the spring to autumn of 1811. As with all of my books, it is set primarily in Derbyshire, England (well, they do say write what you know!), with forays to Londonβs Mayfair and Harrogate, Yorkshire.
#FinishUrBookFall: which song encapsulates my project? Natalie Imbrugliaβs Torn fits pretty well. A Remedy of Love is about two people who fall headlong into love even as they realise that itβs impossible because of a bitter divide between their families. π

#Fannibals attending #RDC6 in August 2024 - Caroline Dhavernas has just been confirmed as the first guest! And tickets are now back on sale! Hopefully another guest announcement is coming in another week or so. π€π»
#FinishUrBookFall this week = the fantasy book launch! My dream location? Chatsworth House! Outfit? Regency, inspired by Judy Parfittβs superb Lady Catherine de Bourgh (1980, BBC). Food: afternoon tea in the sculpture gallery, with floral displays and tiny bird cages. Such fun!

What if Hannibal was into traditional medicine and occultism instead of being a psychiatrist and it ended with flirting via ouija board? What then π―οΈβ¨
#FinishUrBookFall this week = fan cast! So Iβm going with my photo inspirations. In the main roles of Lucian and Pip: Mark Randall and a young Hugh Dancy (confession - young Hugh is my writing muse!). For the boysβ runaway siblings: Callum Turner and Anya Taylor Joy. β₯οΈ
