3 hr delay to get home to Albuquerque on @americanair.bsky.social because our pilots unable to get incoming flight to a gate due to backup at DFW so now we're all motionless (while my flight sits pointlessly at a gate too) Been a while since I flew AA through DFW for exactly this reason☹️

Reducing odds of a leak by 30% or so seems like a valid reason to spend a few extra minutes reinforcing the anastamosis .. definitely would be nice to have more RCTs on this common procedure

Inflation Outpaces Academic Surgeons’ Salaries For this study, authors collected total annual compensation data from 2017 to 2023 for over 12,000 faculty.

πŸ“ An @acsjacs.bsky.social‬ study on academic surgeon financial compensation in the US found that inflation outpaced salaries, threatening the sustainability of academic surgery and risking undermining the healthcare system’s ability to meet future demands.

I don't actually love super-long days & prefer my bedtime to happen after dark, so - Happy Solstice! Now can we get back to regular daylight hours please?😁

Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

President Xi didn’t even bother to fake giving him something. Trump just quietly surrendered in the dead of night.

It's crucial that true surgical experts are willing to serve as expert witnesses in criminal & civil cases. IMO impartiality requires unbiased testimony for either defense or plaintiff as requested, not picking sides
Shying away= a field consisting entirely of "guns 4 hire" w isn't good for anyone.

Bryan MacCormack, the executive director of a New York-based immigrant rights group, was pulled over by CBP with two undocumented passengers in the vehicle. He knew his rights, refused to acknowledge their "warrant", and despite CBP threatening him, the agents eventually were forced to let him go.

On a short (<hour flying time) flight on United Airlines with turbulence so time for service is even shorter, yet they still served juice & water in economy. On American they'd routinely cancel all service on short flights even with good weather - one reason I switched. Caring for customers matters.

In 1979, Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed at the White House.

Ronald Reagan had them removed.

We may be able to trace back the current "Do Harmful Things if it Trolls the Libs" Republicanism to Reagan removing those panels the far more forward thinking Carter had installed.

To honor one of the most compassionate Americans we've ever known, consider an act of kindness today, for a loved one or even a stranger, however small.

Be the reason someone feels seen today. Sometimes all it takes is a kind word or a sincere gesture.

It will make Jimmy smile.

I had polio when i was 9. I was taken from my parents & placed in a Hospital for contageous diseases- the polio ward. I would see them once a week - thru the glass window at the end of my ward. I could not walk. It was terrifying. Kids died. Iron lungs were awful. Dont let RFK Jr ban the vaccine

Thought that was standard for all TV? I rarely see people actually drink any coffee, it's always a fake sip. They take real swigs from wine & martini glasses though, presumed it was colored water but maybe not πŸ˜†
