Real concerns that the Government’s U-turn on the #BusinessRatesBetrayal will be a wholly inadequate sticking plaster.

The unfair & dodgy revaluation MUST be scrapped or bills will still spiral.

#Pubs need the promised genuine & PERMANENT reform of unfair & outdated #BusinessRates system.

Both #pubs are entirely #independent & free from the clutches of pubcos.

Traditional #pubs can really thrive when there's no greedy corporate landlord extracting excessive profit & restricting drinks to generic brands.

So instead we see the last resort for a debt-laden pubco.

Good, profitable (just no longer profitable enough now that the tenants are doing ok!) pubs simply sold off, with the long-suffering tenants (who generate all the wealth) thrown in as little more than goods and chattels.

Presumably this is because a Section 25 no fault eviction is not an option any time soon.

After all, that would be the normal way of dealing with a pesky tenant who has had the temerity to secure a Free of Tie deal and thus secure themself a fair income from their own business.

Why would a pubco seek to flog off 23 #pub freeholds along with good long term tenants?

Surely not because these are fair Free of Tie leases which no longer allow the excessive profit extraction that underpins the entire over-leveraged tied pubco model..?

A wonderful outcome for this gorgeous proper back street #pub.

Once at chronic risk of loss, it seems The Vine, Pithill has ended up in truly safe hands.

People still crave true #community locals, and #independent ownership is the absolute ideal.

Exactly this. At @campaignforpubs.bsky.social we are trying hard to get this message across to the media and to the Govt.
It's a simple no cost UK growth win.

Access to market is indeed a scandal.
And current suggestions to allow a single guest line go nowhere near far enough.
We need to prise our industry out of the vice-like grip of the #GreatBritishPubcoScam once and for all, and consign the tie itself to history.

Hmm. It all basically depends who was attending Matt.
No doubt SIBA will have been included for example, but they are now headed up by a dyed-in-the-wool pubco man.
(I had many online run-ins with him when I was still a tied Punch tenant.)
