As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.
A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.
Anyone playing at Ironic-But-Not-Ironic Literary Snobbery in a world of book bans and right-wing censorship of history is a dabbler at best, and at worst destined to become part of the problem. They’ve already got one foot in the misogyny bucket, and will surely trip on it.
Younger people on my staff use it on Teams, so probably ok?

That is very funny to imagine! They did a similar thing with that Outer Banks tv show where they made it seem like Chapel Hill was on the coast. People in North Carolina had a good laugh for weeks.
