Just this coyote, you know? (Or dollar store wolf, according to some.) He/Him/Good Boy. Old enough (to be your dad…) I live in the state that’s shaped really weird. No, not that one, the other one. Are you gonna eat that?

Well there’s “please come off” and then there’s “I wasn’t asking”

Next stop: “can’t be stuck if it’s liquid”

Don’t like the weather?

Give it a few minutes.

Oh no, they knew what they were doing.

A lot of really technical guitar virtuosos are painful to listen to.

Talented does not always mean enjoyable.

I can hit a solid 0.002.
Some of those are not easy, and I have to stare at it, look away, stare at it again and eventually a very faint line will be noticeable. Moving my eyes or phone around a little sometimes helps too.
When the luminance changes it briefly blinds me to the color difference.

And this is why. You also can’t easily get ivermectin at farm stores for obvious reasons.

Which sucks, because for preventing heartworm and some other parasites, a very small amount of livestock ivermectin on dog food is a lot cheaper than Heartguard Rx.

Some of them are but some of them are exactly the same.

Doxycycline is pretty universal, for example.

This is a 401k/IRA, right? Don’t even look at it. You don’t need it right now and the markets are trash. It will recover.

Given the state of healthcare for a lot of people, this may not be the worst medical take…

I can reliably hit 0.0020. But that’s about as good as I can get. Some of those are not easy and it’s causing eye strain.

Oh I’m sure a real human did, but they still didn’t look too carefully at it.

Following-author? Isn’t that fully under the control of the viewer? All they have to do is follow, fetch the post, unfollow. That could be automated.

Wouldn’t “author-following” offer better control over who sees it?

Guarantee you it was reported and that’s why it got a label. I’d say appeal it, because they don’t really look at what got labeled until you do.

I’ve seen far worse memes not get a label, so they’re not just parsing text from images.

But not on Bluesky. You have to be 18 (maybe with age verification, if required by law) to turn on graphic media as well as “adult content”

The US doesn’t like him. The rest of the Middle East doesn’t like him.

Someone will blow him up, with a whole lot of collateral damage, rinse and repeat.

ECC RAM and such takes care of that.

Thing about stochastic models like LLMs is that even if the code is deterministic, inference has some degree of randomness by design and you shouldn’t rely on it for questions that should have deterministic answers.

I have not seen that movie in probably decades.

LLMs, etc…

Microsoft moving to zipped XML+assets is the *only* reason everything can work with MS Office formats.

IIRC, didn’t they have to open up Office because of some antitrust threat?

Or was it a matter of the proprietary doc/xls/ppt getting far too crufty to continue with?

08.03.2026 04:15 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Not only that, but you’ll find the actual document in there is just XML. That what the “x” on the end means.

And that is why so much non-Microsoft stuff can work with them now. They’re no longer a proprietary mess.

So do your disks. And your WiFi. Spinning rust uses PRML, it literally has to guess if there was a 1 or 0 recorded on the platter because the bits overlap. Flash stores more than one bit in a cell using multiple voltage levels. QAM is 256+ different codes per blip of RF. ECC is why any of it works.

There are so many good true stories in that book. Like how for a lack of anything like a logger or sniffer, he stole every printer he could find from the offices and wired one across each port on the terminal server.

I did this to a Power Mac at the local newspaper. Early 2000s. They called the computer service place I worked for. I came out, stared at the [?] folder and kicked the tower. Spun right up. Told them to leave it on until I could come back with a drive, because I didn’t carry any SCSI disks on me.

Scammers are using them *because* they are run by Blacksky.

No way in hell Bluesky is going to block myatproto at the relay, unless they start to see network attacks or other truly nasty things coming from that PDS.

The optics of it would be incredibly bad: it would silence mostly BIPOC users.
