What doesn’t help the violent stereotype that she’ll hide her guilt from hurting someone to everyone. Saying things like “They forced my hand” is just so cold and insensitive. Unfortunately after stb and even more after shb happens Kanan’s gentleness feels like a flaw that she’ll hide forever.

If she can she will still prefer non-lethal ways to settle conflicts but when she feels like the other person is a lost cause she will put her foot down. What happened haunts her so much she’d rather feel in control by subduing whoever is in her path than potentially have the bad feelings resurface.

I’d say a big one is that some people think Kanade has “murderous tendencies”.

I guess I get it, her arc is very much a descent into a logical acceptance of the fact that non violence will lead to both friends and foes walking all over her and in the story it leads to consequences.
