I read a different report that said the handbrake wasn't on/failed and the van rolled into them.
It is the only incident I've ever seen where the usual wording - a van collided with 2 cyclists - is actualy correct. Hope they recover fully.
Without trees/bollards/SUDS/parking spaces separting the bike lane from the road, experience tells me it will be used for parking/loading.
This has to be the worst take on this...
This reminds me of when I lived in York in the 80s. Every shop asked you to sign their petition opposing pedestrianisation. It went ahead anyway and business boomed as a direct result.
"Bike is Best." It's great! www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6Ch...

What would a TV ad promoting alternatives to driving look like? What if people who love cycling and progressive transportation reclaimed ideas like freedom, independence and even patriotism? We decided to give it a shot. Check out our new video, "America, It's Just Like Riding a Bike."
If you're using Sky Bridge it's worth telling it to keep checking when it stops - it seems to pause frequently. Mine eventually found over 700 users on BlueSky.
I laughed at the number too.
Things that make you more visible to drivers - hi-vis, movement of legs, feet & arms - make you LESS visible to cars' emergency braking systems.
Sounds like these systems are designed to avoid collisions with other vehicles, but not people.
