Putting birds first, pt2
YouTube video by Rare Breeding Birds Panel
It’s also important to think carefully before sharing sightings of rare breeding birds in the spring & summer - could this lead to disturbance, or worse? Read the RBBP guidance here tinyurl.com/RBBPsound and if in doubt, don’t! [2/2] youtu.be/Q739XXYWgDo?...

So now it's an otter? It's been a beaver, a badger...I vote Gruffalo.

Help us beat Reform UK in North Norfolk
This May, our mission is to send the Tories packing and stop Reform UK
We've just hit 50% on our @crowdfunder.bsky.social !
Will you help us beat Reform UK in North Norfolk this May?
We might be outgunned, but our army of volunteers can do amazing things with modest amounts of money.
Together, let's show people that politics can work for them.

For Central Bylines: Ed Davey takes aim at the unpatriotic right

People on the left tend to be uneasy about patriotism – the last refuge of the scoundrel and all that – but it’s remarkable how many right-wing politicians and commentators give every impression of disliking their own country.

📦 2.6 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided across the UK in 2025
👶 912,216 of these were for households with children
📈 That’s still 45% higher than pre-pandemic levels
Inflation is easing, but hardship isn’t. This isn’t right - and it doesn’t have to be this way.

One of the 'helping out other teams' things I did in Sudan was being on the interview panel for potential Chevening scholars. All incredibly impressive people that worked really hard to get to that point. To be on the cusp of a huge opportunity and then have it snatched away... Unconscionable.

Grasping little nobodies, who think they have a god given right to literally lord it over us in perpetuity, because some ancestor bought a peerage or was the illegitimate child of a royal or won some battle in a long forgotten colonial war or lent money to some tosser who lived beyond their means.

If you go back 900 years, then a very high percentage of the people who read this post will also be descended from this man's ancestor.
I'm almost certainly descended from him.
Why don't I get a seat in the House of Lords?

Farage and Badenoch are absolute clowns: startled by the entirely foreseeable series of events they failed to foresee. A demonstration of their total lack of judgement.

We have a looming animal welfare crisis in our sheep flocks due to a lack of access to shearers, caused by the Home Office. When I raised these issues with DEFRA senior civil servants last week it was clear that they were not aware of the issue, let alone on top of it - they must get a grip of it.

A machine in Exeter train station that vends Penguin paperbacks as if they are Crunchie bars or packets of Quavers.
I do like the Penguin Books vending machine at Exeter train station but I won't be truly happy until there's another one next to it solely selling rare jazz, psych and soul records made between 1965 and 1970.

My husband rescued over 100 #toads this morning...
Stuck in just a few inches of water, at the bottom of a deep-sided pit with a grate on top. He'd walked over the grate a few times before he noticed movement beneath it and realised what it was. Thank goodness he was able to reach them !
