It's really all about understanding the downsides of certain designs and working with them.
If you were given a character sheet that comes with all the things you can do and you are strictly limited to those few actions to resolve any problem you're faced with. You may ask what happens when I need to do x task not accounted for? It's been a while since I read apocalypse world though...
Ah OK, so if I told you there was a game that uses proprietary dice that takes between 10 seconds to a minute to roll and your skill as a real human is more important to roll outcomes than anything you can put on your sheet you'd probably recognize this as bad design. Insert dread
