Yep. The point was to be consistent. Reviewing is arbitrary from reviewer to reviewer, but for the individual reviewer, it should be consistent from film to film.
Having worked with Roger Ebert, that's a perfect way of describing it. "Not for Roger" often meant people knew they'd enjoy 2-star movie because he didn't and wouldn't enjoy his 4-stars because those "aren't for them."
