Update: I watched the movie and it is an improvement, ive seen discourse on which Ray is more abusive: I still say book Ray. Someone who tells a person even in a degradation context (which it wasnt) no one will have you is absolutely toxic person behaviour. No amount of late aftercare will fix that.

Yes, Im aware its fiction, yes Im aware these are my experiences being probably unfairly projected on the POV character which moreso shows the writers strengths to dredge these emotions. But no amount of leather can justify those actions.
