NB: The "seat" of HCC unfortunately relocated to Robertson (and Farnham) House in Stevenage last year
Hertfordshire is complex because itβs southern districts are βnorth, north Londonβ while its northern boundary is almost rural East Anglia. Furthermore the towns along railway lines have inevitably become like dormitory towns for London commuters - with inevitable impact on house prices.
A red telephone box and a "Give Way" sign at a lonely rural junction in Scotland with a river beyond.
The Ardtoe telephone box in its context.
If youβre knocking about in London Sunday afternoon and fancy climbing a mountain, do come to this. An open rehearsal of Straussβ Alpine Symphony, one of the more extravagant and glorious pieces of orchestral music ever written. Free entry. 5.45 start.

Heard what I thought was a helicopter overhead so pulled up flightradar and baffled as the sky was clear (apart from a small private fixed wing type thing not even reached me yet).
Realised it was the washing machine on the spin cycle.

Or... She loved him enough to disguise it and thus not worry him about the budget pressures π€·ββοΈ OR she was too scared to tell him OR etc etc
Iβm slightly surprised by this βI never see a banknoteβ stuff. Maybe itβs a metropolitan elite thing, but (a) I use bank notes every week to pay Irene who walks my dog when Iβm away, and Nikki who cleans and (b) I reckon about 1/4 of people in front of me in Lidl use notes.
Totally sideswiped by a somewhat complex case (as you do on a Friday) and as a result forgot I was supposed to be covering our advice line only realising around 19.45 as I was about to pack up to leave the office.
Luckily only 3 emails and only had to respond to 2 so dealt with 'em "late pronto" π₯³
Has he been to the Tracey Emin retrospective?
We had words this morning
*sulks* *mutters* was only in the interests of science, innit tho?
Could you just...dunk him in a puddle accidentally on purpose or summat? Just so we can assess for size?
The face to floof ratio is staggering!
This is the company the UK government has embedded in the nationβs services. Seriously, fuck everyone who is excusing this.
There are other reasons for the UK government not to award or continue Palantir contracts but this statement of intent by its CEO must surely be decisive?
Anyways: it's a bit bluddy blustery.
And that's swearing.
Could I identify a swear word in what they'd said? Rarely, and usually in the mildest of terms.
But I *knew* the strength of feeling this conveyed.
Suddenly reminded of the way a particular demographic of the South Yorkshire area I once inhabited would, when articulating their crossness about something, would finish with an emphatic and yet simultaneously sheepish "and *that's* swearing!"
I'm very hopeful that animal based notes will so successfully capture the country's imagination that in ten years time, when asking what gift to bring to a child's birthday someone will tell me 'Just Lego or something, but don't spend more than a badger'.
"Winston Churchill is a hero. Heβs earned his place on our Five Pound Note. He must not be replaced with an Otter."
I'm increasingly convinced that this whole campaign is in fact an elaborate joke.
*clears throat* *practices lemmings voice*
*squeaks excitedly*
"LET'S GO!"
Bar chart showing the top 10 most overcrowded prisons in England and Wales, ranging from Leeds, with a population at 170% of certified normal accommodation, to Doncaster at 150%.
In the last week of February, Leeds prison had room to accommodate 641 men in conditions deemed to be safe and decent by the Ministry of Justice.
But it was being forced to hold 1,089.

Iβm getting The Look because I wonβt let him go and rampage around the garage
To describe what has happened with the Lloyds/Halifax banking app data breaches today as a "glitch" is an appalling attempt to minimise the scale and significance of this
The head and wings of a red kite. Its head is grey, and its hooked beak is yellow and black.
Low-level red kite this afternoon.
The tying to the trees saved the day!
I just looked for a build update and got distracted by the schecksy frog time photos! The louche one just lying back, spreadeagled in the pond!
Isabel! *Pegs everything down*
