After Last Orders sounds a fascinating project. Hopefully McGlynns will open again soon, it also used to have a lovely pub cat, Jackie

Was great to speak at the fantastic @stanfordstravel.bsky.social last night on London's Lost Pubs with the excellent John Seaton. The event sold out and we cleared the shelves of the book!
Was great to be on Radio NZ yesterday to talk about London's Lost Pubs - you can listen back here - www.rnz.co.nz/national/pro...
Yep! Which in turn took the name from a brewery in the City of London that Fullers had acquired!
The Griffin has always had that name (to my knowledge) and actually ended up lending its name to Brentford's old ground, a rare example of a football ground named after a pub!
Ah yes the arts centre! I briefly thought you meant the pub.
Yes it's in a bit of a sorry state. Used to wander up to its little balcony bit on covid walks.
Would be very happy to come on your show in the future to chat about it if you like? (Can get a copy to you too!)
Is the Watermans closed?! I only went last month. Used to live very nearby but sadly it was closed most of the time due to covid. Had lovely cats too.
@mrjamesob.bsky.social Great to hear you talking about Brentford pubs earlier(former TW8 resident here). Thought you might be interested in my book London's Lost Pubs, plenty from Brentford/Chiswick included... www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/Londons-Lost...
Delighted to say I will be speaking at The Chiswick Book Festival on Sunday 14th September at The Tabard on London's Lost Pubs - get your tickets here - www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/chi...
I think boffin is one of those words that is kept alive by tabloid papers these days. I'd put 'scorcher' in there too.
Thanks to @hernehillbooks.bsky.social for stocking London's Lost Pubs and putting it in their window display. Cheers!
Can you still get a great deal on an armchair there?
Very excited to say will be speaking at @stanfordstravel.bsky.social on 22nd July about London's Lost Pubs, alongside the excellent John Seaton who helped bring Back to the Local in print! www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/londons-lo...
Up there as one of my favourite pubs in the country. Perfect on a sunny Sussex day!
That's very sad news. Had a few email exchanges with him about his excellent detective work on The Tipperary pub and some of the myths around the name.
There's never been a better time ๐
I'm now curious to see your top 50 as always after good pub picks outside London!
What is an example of one of the 'top pubs' on the list that you particularly disagree with? Not wishing to name and shame the writer but am curious as to the poor picks!
Looks like a lovely view from the window too!
Am guessing I've certainly missed the boat but would love a signed copy as I've been meaning to buy this since it came out!
Probably the London pub in my book I'm saddest I didn't visit. It sounded really special with that interior.
Very sad The Paviour Arms doesn't still exist as a shining example in London
Hope he wasn't like that at his takeaway in Ealing
