btw i showed my gf my latest wip because i remembered her recently asking if i ever did line art and wanting to see, and she gave me a very specific bewildered sort of Expression and explained that 'recently' was actually Three Years Ago. she asked three years ago.

a funny anecdote is the fact that i started going by dan specifically bc i thought it was androgynous, but as soon as i did i noticed people would read my name and then get shocked when i wasnt a man

how i acidentally joined the age old tradition of "butch lesbian with a man's name", lol

also when ive been good my girlfriend calls me a good dan and i like that :]

mine was just a nickname at first. then it became my actual name 😅

i can't see myself as anything other than a dan now. the fact theres 6 billion other dans in this world is the point; it affords me a lil bit of anonymity/lets my actions & my art be the thing ppl remember me by.

im not a 3d expert (like literally, i am at uni right now for this exact thing lol) but if i had to take a swing, its almost like they used a realistic lighting engine instead of a anime/cell shade one? which i think might be a big contributor to the cheap uggo look. not sure but its a hunch

exactly!!! the artist is obviously v skilled, just a poor fit for medieval fantasy. like me saying that chara looks like a pkmn trainer- its true, i wouldn't bat an eye if she was lol

the models i'd describe as cheap looking? very flat. lacks the lush&vibrant lighting other cell shaded games have.

i think its a little silly how i see some ppl act like crit of the engage designs is overreacting. there really is no word for a lot of them other than 'ugly' 😅

also i hate awakening and fate's armour so much it literally got me into costume design, so. make of that what you will lol

anyway i think this fits the criteria of being petty bc clearly a lot of people like these charas and do get upset when pointed out the designs are not to everyone's taste, lol :")

i have a very strong hatred of the gacha game & vtuber school of character design that informs my dislike here.

to balance it out i will again reiterate that this one is a cutie and i rlly like her costume, even if she looks less like an fe chara and more like a pokemon trainer (and also could do without the random black hanging bits on her top??? anyway)

everyone else's outfits suck so bad it blows my mind
