The wine is almost infinite in extent and yet so beautiful. This is why we drink Burgundy.
But this is just the beginning. Mid palate is à point decaying kirsch cherries and sous-bois all mixing together in a umami-bomb. Finally, I guess a minute or two into the fireworks, come the end-notes: ridiculous levels of grip, flashbacks of the cherries, some tannins and then more grip.
As for the mouth, how do I even begin? concentrated, round and all enveloping. The initial profile goes on and on without any transition into mid-palate, like some loooong-held note from a world-class tenor. How does it manage all this potency while remaining light and elegant and in no way bulky?
Les Fontenys, Gevrey Chambertin, Roty 2012, medium+ crimson, some bricking on edge, big legs. Lovely red cherries from the get-go, spice and oak all integrated, tingly electricity promise.
