A male goldeneye duck swimming on calm water. The duck has a distinctive black head with a green shimmer with a large white cheek patch and bright yellow eyes. The body is mostly white with black wings and back. the water around the duck is calm and reflective.

Goldeneyes occur in my area only during the winter, when the light is often dull. Even when the sun is shining, their heads often just appear black, without that beautiful green shimmer. #BirdOfTheDay #PerfectLighting
