Armed man rammed vehicle into Michigan synagogue and was fatally shot by security, AP source says
A man armed with a rifle rammed a vehicle into a major synagogue in a Detroit suburb and was fatally shot by security.
A guy rammed his car through a door at Detroitβs largest synagogue and got out with a gun and was shot by security before he could massacre everyone inside.
And yes all synagogues that can afford it have security. And yes itβs exactly because of situations like this that they do.

I know this community very well. The Shenandoah club the Temple Israel statement refers to as providing food and shelter during this attack is the club established by Iraqi Chaldeans. This is really beautiful interfaith solidarity in action.

Starbucks spent $240 million on union busting last year. If they'd chosen not to fight unionization, every worker could have gotten $630 instead. If their CEO made less than $96 million a year (the avg worker makes $15k), the company could give workers all of what they've asked for.

Project 2025 lays out very clearly how these people want to break the back of U.S. culture, education, academia, and science, but he can't say that

My name is used as "expert" reviewer on Grammarly, so I uploaded an unpublished paper and asked "myself" for feedback. I got generic writing advice.
The feedback from their fake version of @katestarbird.bsky.social and *colleagues* also gave generic advice about using examples.
I'm insulted.

Your guide already highlights transparency and user trust; refining threat models, versioned documentation, user-centered examples, and layered information will make the advice more vivid and immediately actionable.

I know that bad news is coming when a co-worker messages me with "You're gonna be so mad..."
Grammarly has rolled out an AI-powered "expert review" feature where its simulacrum of me makes suggestions for your text. My real edits are usually along the lines of "Throw this into the sea."

I just remember when the roof of Notre-Dame de Paris was on fire and how every Western leader became a cultural expert and lamented the damage and how everyone donated money to rebuild it.
I am having a hard time finding a single article in any European or American publication about this.

The bottom line is Trump sacrificed 8 American lives (& counting) and more than 1,000 Iranian lives (& counting) for nothing. He hurt the US & global economies, destabilized the Middle East, & will pull out with the same Iranian regime in power. There's no silver lining.
A senseless, criminal waste

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

Paula Doress-Worters, who helped break the silence on postpartum depression, dies at 87
She co-wrote βOur Bodies, Ourselves,β a 1970s touchstone conceived by and for women. The book offered information about abortion, pregnancy and postpartum life.
Paula Doress-Worters, who died Feb. 21, had given birth in late 1966, at a time when postpartum depression β experienced by an estimated 1 in 8 women after childbirth β hardly had a name.
βThey said, βItβs just baby blues, youβll get over it.ββ

Trans Porn Is Booming. Trans Rights Are Fading
We asked trans adult creators about the complicated link between desire and politics, as trans porn is booming while rights fade.
Interesting interview in Playboy with transgender adult content creators. People often point to Pornhub stats showing trans content is more popular than ever as a contradiction, as if political and sexual objectification were ever mutually exclusive
