Robert Burns scholar joins campaign to save 'home' of Auld Lang Syne Ellisland, a Category A-listed farmhouse six miles north of Dumfries, was built by Burns for his bride Jean Armour Burns in 1788.

and so the holiday season begins. Spent a fantastic day yesterday in Edinburgh -- everywhere is festooned with fairy lights and seasonal cheer. Start enjoying it, all!

It’s been snowing in both Switzerland and Scotland and it’s getting me in the holiday mood!

Who doesn’t love a good tartan jacket? Makes a big, bold statement. I was in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh recently and saw this painting of journalist Lorraine Kelly by an up and coming young artist.
