The population of Lebanon is not even half the pop of Tehran. Since it began pummeling Lebanon, Israel has already forced the displacement of 500,000. Just today, it has killed 74 Lebanese. The total death toll is approx 400.

It would be nice if the atrocities of Iran war were just the damage Israel’s Gaza war did to norms, law, and humanity. But I remember earlier Israeli bombing of Gaza and Lebanon, the bombing of Iraqi civilian infrastructure in 1990-91, Saudi bombing of Yemen after 2015. It’s been a long grim road.
This whole story is so horrifying at so many levels. It should be a seismic scandal but it will probably barely make a ripple.

Iran’s people were facing a horrible shortage of water before the war began. If we are destroying desalination plants and setting fire to Teheran we are committing unfathomable crimes.
People should be angry about Trump's war on a whim in the Middle East.
The war itself violates the US Constitution and the UN Charter.
That does not mean however that every attack violates the law of war—even if they seem unethical or kill a bunch of civilians.
For that, the crime of aggression.
