A year ago we were supposed to be getting $2,000 rebate checks, DOGE was going to find $2 trillion in waste to balance the budget, we were going to pay no income taxes because tariffs would pay for everything, gas and home electric bills would be cut in half, and no new wars.

This is the Platonic ideal of a social media exchange, never again to be equaled or even attempted:

In a world of lies, we need the BBC more than ever. This week could be our last chance to save it | Polly Toynbee As the public consultation on the BBC nears its end, the right will be out in force to undermine it. But its supporters can do their bit – with this guidance, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

"The public consultation on the BBC Charter renewal closes next week.
All those who care about the BBC’s future should hurry and send in their response before 10 March.
Battalions of enemies driven by the right will be out in force to undermine it"

“Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.”

I’d love news coverage to talk about how political events will affect me as a person, rather than how it’ll impact politicians / parties.

Given the nature of their political stance, the consequences of a Green Party win for *humans beings* seems more important than its effects on the Labour Party.

27.02.2026 19:20 👍 141 🔁 17 💬 3 📌 3

When Starmer says the Greens and Reform are equally extreme, just as when Labour make the same comparison between SNP and Reform, it causes a visceral reaction in me. Not just because it’s stupid. But because it shows a fundamental triviality about the existential threat posed by the far right.

So for voters switching to Reform it’s, ‘we understand you and sympathise with your concerns’, but for (the much greater number of) voters switching to the Greens it’s, ’you’re being divisive and sectarian’. He’s really not getting it

Here’s a thought for James Comer.

There IS a First Lady who has had a relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. And it’s not Hillary Clinton.

It might be worthwhile for Comer to subpoena the First Lady who actually knows Epstein.

You know, just to see what she knows.

The three people most mentioned in the Epstein files are Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Donald Trump.

One of them died in prison, one of them is in prison now, and one of them is president.

But sure, let’s depose Hillary Clinton.

Please give it some exposure. It might not result in anything even if it got 100K signatures, but if it doesn't get any it definitely won't and we're seeing more and more evidence rather than conjecture around these murky, opaque orgs.

Donald Trump’s name appears over 38,000 times in the Epstein files, while “God” is mentioned only 4,000 times in the whole Bible.

The Brexit anniversary is a day for sadness. After the results of the Brexit ref came through all those years ago, this young woman was asked to put her thoughts about it on camera. Her eloquent words spoke for so many of us back then – and her worst fears have tragically come true.

World would be a ‘better place’ if US took over Greenland, says Nigel Farage Reform leader says he agrees ‘strategically’ with Trump but adds that views of Greenlanders must be respected

Farage has the unbelievable nerve to talk at Davos about Britain’s “moral decline”.

This repulsive piece of shit IS Britain’s moral decline. He’s betrayed our country for self-interest, prejudice and greed. Shame on everyone who’s allowed that.
