I didn't know about it until Stan Stennett said about them being in the script it has a ---- optional cut ----- line above and below the bit that can be kept or lost, supposedly without losing any key plot.
Lew Grade said 'make me an American style soap' and Reg Watson went off and created one with lots of beige sets and plots that would make the cast of As The World Turns think 'really'? 😗
Crossroads is never crazy. Ever.
It is quite amazing the way its recorded 'as live' with some scenes having "optional lines" which will be kept or removed depending if the time is under/over running and they're told a few minutes before that scene starts which version they're doing. Nightmare.

Today in 1975 episode 2300 of Crossroads was broadcast, Granada and Thames had special introductions before 2299 to bring them into 1975 - both jumping six months of episodes so that on April 3rd the whole UK could see the wedding of Meg and Hugh.
