I made the very adult decision not to drink tea after 7pm, even though a brand-new box of lapsang souchong is calling my name.
And I finished the research for the chapter I will write tomorrow (how to raise goats with no capital investment). Such a day!
Gao Wei Guang in #snowfall
Gong when he was a vampire

I love how this coat seems to take *all* the light for itself in every single setting.
This is a grownup show that allows one to reflect on personal ancient mistakes, and delivers good (though uneven) directorial/script choices, and some good acting (& boy, do people make bad choices--like real life). Ymmv, but I like it. 6/6
Yet not βimproperβ in a strict moralistic society-rules way. Instead, their misfortunes lay in the consequences that follow choices based on mistaken desire. 5/6
These characters could be in a 1970s ensemble drama, acting like they have free will and that free love is a thing, while seemingly unconscious of a great deal of the socio-political forces (& beliefs in βtrue loveβ) that are leading them into βimproperβ choices. 4/6
I had a hard time with the 1st 2 episodes: a) did not want to see Liu Yu Ning suffer; b) found the character Gong insufferableβeven though Iβve been close friends with a βGong.β Then I saw that Gong is played by Gao Wei Guang (from #snowfall !), and looked closer at what the actor was doing. 3/6
The ensemble cast brings to life serious people who believe/want to believe in love, but go about it in mistaken ways. I believe the controlling CCP propaganda isnβt βget married/have kidsβ but instead βimproper desire is improperβ β¦ because it hurts people, is what these stories play out. 2/6
Liu Yu Ning as Bei Qi Yuan, shooting with a bow on a date in βaboutLoveβ.
I am here to advocate for #aboutlove. First, if you like romance, this isnβt itβinstead, watch #loveBetweenLines or #TheBestThing. About Love focuses on issues related to βloveβ that I havenβt seen in contemporary #cdrama stories (about which the MDL synopsis seems unaware). [long] 1/6
They also appear to have puffed his coat full of air.
The whole shoot resulted in 1 line of Joni Mitchell-- "I was a free man in Paris" --getting stuck in my head all morning.
The first sentence of the day.
Oh gawd
(Applies for everything I've read so far today)
Good analysis! I like this show a lot, because the characters feel like people I know, and the actors are working very hard. Also, the only propaganda is "improper desire is improper".
Why not send him to outer space? It'd be a more comfortable environment for him.

And of course it was supposed to be "worth 1k." My professional proofing skills are gone with the wind. I have no expectation those skills will return.
I'm just no longer going to like pics with multiple hashtags and no alt txt. Please get a clue...
A picture is with 1k words. So where did the tradition of adding 20 unreadable hashtags come from? Esp. with no alt text?
(I'm not saying I hate it. But I dislike it immensely.)
Some of you might be able to help with this.

I imagine those basics also. I'm interested in the creative evolution among players. It wasn't paint by numbers.
Oh wait. I don't understand Chinese.
I'd trade anything for audiotapes of the designer, photog, and yb from sessions in this era. I want to know what happened in the whole creative mix.
Yes! But how does it not pull the lapel and jacket front out of line? And does it detach easily to be used as a weapon when night hunting? So many questions!
I was on FB (rarely; always for family reasons) and encountered a video of yibo (since that's all FB feeds me) that was deeply, obviously AI. It purported to show YB cooking an omelet with chopped tomatoes. I imagine this as his expression if he saw that vid.
Everyone needs personal goals
βThe presumption created by the surrounding evidence is that this war could very well be about (1) subverting US democracy, (2) enriching the president, or both. These presumptions, while not proof, provide solid lines of inquiry as we learn more about the war.β
