I made the very adult decision not to drink tea after 7pm, even though a brand-new box of lapsang souchong is calling my name.
And I finished the research for the chapter I will write tomorrow (how to raise goats with no capital investment). Such a day!

I love how this coat seems to take *all* the light for itself in every single setting.
This is a grownup show that allows one to reflect on personal ancient mistakes, and delivers good (though uneven) directorial/script choices, and some good acting (& boy, do people make bad choices--like real life). Ymmv, but I like it. 6/6
Yet not “improper’ in a strict moralistic society-rules way. Instead, their misfortunes lay in the consequences that follow choices based on mistaken desire. 5/6
These characters could be in a 1970s ensemble drama, acting like they have free will and that free love is a thing, while seemingly unconscious of a great deal of the socio-political forces (& beliefs in “true love”) that are leading them into “improper” choices. 4/6
I had a hard time with the 1st 2 episodes: a) did not want to see Liu Yu Ning suffer; b) found the character Gong insufferable—even though I’ve been close friends with a “Gong.” Then I saw that Gong is played by Gao Wei Guang (from #snowfall !), and looked closer at what the actor was doing. 3/6
The ensemble cast brings to life serious people who believe/want to believe in love, but go about it in mistaken ways. I believe the controlling CCP propaganda isn’t “get married/have kids” but instead “improper desire is improper” … because it hurts people, is what these stories play out. 2/6

Good analysis! I like this show a lot, because the characters feel like people I know, and the actors are working very hard. Also, the only propaganda is "improper desire is improper".
Why not send him to outer space? It'd be a more comfortable environment for him.
