Stop pretending it’s business as usual.

Social work faculty, talk to your students about community organizing, community care, mutual aid. Have them do break outs to talk about the role(s) they want to play right now. Do safety planning work. Share various theories of change.

Do not be complicit.

In a recent open-access Milbank Quarterly article, Devin English of the Rutgers School of Public Health and coauthors examine associations from police and social services expenditures to later suicides and police-perpetrated killings for Black and White residents.

People do not want to reckon with the actual purpose of policing. That's all I'll say about that.

It feels uniquely American to see organizations representing one's field defending it's status a profession to push back against the government imposing student loan limits, with no mention of the out of control costs of higher education & institutionalized practice of required unpaid internships.

Would it be helpful if we did a talk on what an insurance death spiral is? And why ACA premiums entering a death spiral will mean that people who rely on employer-sponsored insurance will also be fucked?

Or do folks already have a good grasp on that?
