BUSINESS IDEA: An AI called Bartleby that just replies “I would prefer not to.” to all requests
BUSINESS IDEA: An AI called Bartleby that just replies “I would prefer not to.” to all requests
It's like a hostage situation, with relaxed "not-morning-people", except they don't have any demands and I never get Stockholm Syndrome.
My internal dialogue screams "we could be halfway home doing a nice walk around that lake we saw on the way here" while I smile politely and drink more tea slowly
For this reason, I always avoid the carpool!
I think, to be a landlord--this includes owning a company that manages property--you should have to pass an exam that is at least as thorough as a state bar exam or a medical license.
What's wild is that Trump is going around deliberately & explicitly trying to bully countries into becoming dependent on US LNG.
Who on earth thinks becoming dependent on the US is smart right now?
Airhead / Funny How is on every single mix tape, minidisc, mp3 playlist i ever made.
No, i think both use PAL, with a resolution of 720w x 576h
I think Bluray is where 1080p came in?
Or even put that tiny filter at the top of the machine, so that the column of damp, dusty air headed for the heat exchanger can drop dust back down before it even reaches the second filter.
To prove innovation is dead, how come condensing tumble dryers don't use a Dyson-style cyclonic filter to get rid of the smallest fluff instead of requiring a second, hidden filter that hurts my back to lean over and clean.
Even if LLMs worked, which they don't, every business that uses them is choosing to select the same mediocrity everyone else has access to, instead of differentiating themselves through innovation.
It's not even a race to the bottom, it's a race to the boring.
There's this thirteen year old blog post about "Expert Beginners", people who through lack of curiousity plateau at beginner level, while believing themselves to be experts. I'm seeing more of them, thinking that getting an answer from an LLM means they have skills daedtech.com/how-develope...
I once saw someone respond to a video of a guy advertising a cryptocurrency by asking “if this is going to give him a 10,000% return why is he telling everyone online about it instead of just quietly investing all his money?” and it’s the most obvious question but it goes for a lot of shit nowadays
It's a screenshot of an Instagram post. There's text against a blurry image; the text reads, "What did joy feel like before someone told you, you were doing it wrong?" There's a small caption at the bottom of the image: "Alice Bramhill / Nervous System Regulation and Joy. Reclaiming What Was Always Yours."
Well this was loud
SAM ALTMAN: What no one understands is that no one at the beach can stop you from scooping up as many shells as you want. An endless well of seashells for the taking. INTERVIEWER: Mhm. ALTMAN: Look I have a bunch in my pocket right here. INTERVIEWER: Wow that's incredible. And they're all already crushed up too.
ALTMAN: Yes well I crushed them. They didn't start crushed. I took them home and then I crushed them. INTERVIEWER: Mhm. Mhm. ALTMAN: You can eat them. I eat them everyday. That's why I crush them. Here have a taste. INTERVIEWER: Wow these are great. It feels like eating teeth. ALTMAN: Right? Human teeth. Isn't it incredible? I died in 2023.
Extremely revealing details in this interview
But if New Zealand adds more hydro/wind/solar power instead of importing gas, how would the Todd family trust look after their children?
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
Jennifer @JenYetAgain@beige.party in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with. this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US. Feb 9, 2026 at 4:35:18PM Boosted by 968: Favourited by 1324:
mom they’re roasting the US economy on mastodon again
So excited we are all going to be paying a mandatory New Zealand gas infrastructure subsidy every month to the fossil fuel industry so they can keep fucking the planet over for us with extreme weather events, instead of building woke solar/wind/hydro/geothermal generation.
Thanks National!
Can someone make the person in charge of Microsoft OneDrive pop-ups watch that Youtube video about consent? Y'know the one about "don't make them drink the tea"
FFS, I don't want to upload my personal files so you can train your AI on them
I set aside a weekend to build my first Raspberry Pi-hole .
It took <2 hours, including times where I went and did housework during the SDcard flashing and downloads. The hardest part was running a USB power cable under the table.
I work in IT, I'm not used to stuff working first time.
Two days later, Facebook decided that the obvious scam adverts are fine. Fuck Facebook.
We don't send you surveys to find out how satisfied you were with the driver who put your parcel in the bin just before it was emptied. We just need to maximise the opportunities for you to accept cookies so we can track you and sell data.
So that's my experience of Facebook nowadays:
Log in to see where [REDACTED] club is meeting tonight, scroll past 5 attempts to defraud me, find out we are meeting at [REDACTED] tonight and then log the hell out
Great work everyone involved, you can all go home knowing you did a great job.
Just in case, they made sure to give me one in foreignese. They have invested so heavily in "Meta AI", which is amazing, brilliant, fantastic, gamechanging, so intelligent, but can't even identify which language to promote scams at me in, even after me being a member using English for 15+ years.
Had to scroll down to find number 4
A third scam ad in a row
Can't be arsed reporting any more of them. This is how Meta dies, swamped in fraud and slop. Glad my pension fund is heavily invested in the SP500, with 2.7% of my life's savings sunk into this flailing, failing, cess pit.
Still, at least I found out where to meet tonight
Fraud reported at 7:04am, 11th Feb 2025, how long until I get a message telling me it was/wasn't against their standards. I spent 30 seconds clicking links to report this, at my chargeout rate, that's $1+ of my time I've donated to Meta/Zuckerberg, so he can make his 2 cents.
Fuck modern life.
Wait, a second advert for the same scam, posted by a different user, he made 2 cents.
Facebook is serving me ads for dodgy apps claiming to be my credit card company, love how they are looking out for me, making sure I get fraud targeted specifically at financial services I use. Still, Zuckerberg will get his 1 cent ad revenue towards his next billion, so not all bad news.
