"Now Fernando Mendoza, there's a haircut you could set your watch to."
Is it possible the MN AG office can run their own investigation and potentially bring state charges, or no?
Here's the American e-bike plan:
* Propose a bike lane in one part of town
* Let the "neighborhood council" shoot it down
* Record the resulting mayhem of e-bikes taking sidewalks
* Draft legislation requiring car insurance for bikes
* Watch demand evaporate
* Continue complaining about parking
It would be great if these bands who were at their peak in 1999-2009 could start their concerts at 7pm so I can get some sleep 👴🏼
A hand holds a book, "Reclaiming the Road: Mobility Justice Beyond Complete Streets" by David Prytherch. A man sitting on a bench on a lush green street can be seen out-of-focus in the background.
"It's galling that the benefits of our roadway system accrue so disproportionately to higher-income, able-bodied, nonminority adult drivers, while the risks and harms fall especially on nondriving children, older people, those with disabilities, and lower-income communities." @uminnpress.bsky.social
The number of children injured or killed by cars while walking or riding a bike has fallen steadily since the 1970s, but CDC researcher note that this decline is not because streets are safer, but because fewer kids are out and about in the first place.
Americans accept tens of thousands of deaths and *millions* of injuries every year of disproportionately young, healthy people as the reasonable cost of riding around cities in motorized easy chairs and if you say that’s an unacceptable and insane price to pay you sound like a crazy person.
It’s also a testament to how unhinged you have to be that we can’t discern between reality and parody.
We need to get you a scooter or bicycle! They'll work well for you even after the strike ends.
40,000+ deaths per year in the US from vehicle violence. Not to mention the thousands of people who will suffer non-fatal injuries that could impact them their entire lives. More than 100 people will die at the hands of vehicle violence today.
Wednesday’s ‘Rat Saw God’ is a fantastic album.
I’ve also had Medium Build’s ‘Country’ on repeat all winter.
Fingers crossed more Built to Spill in 2025!
