It always amuses me now, looking at my checkouts from the public library, since they went to a system of automatically renewing your books unless someone else places holds. I've a couple books that have been renewed more than 200 times apiece, so years. Eventually I'll finish them!

They are feeding our proposals to ChatGPT to ask "is this DEI" and then ChatGPT will use our proposals, which is supposed to be confidential and proprietary, to train its next model. Talking about breach of confidentiality and intellectual theft.
The stages of online samples in my research career:
1. too difficult/expensive/unrepresentative
2. too expensive but representative
3. pretty affordable but less representative
4. cheap and full of bots with garbage responses
5. wide price range and maybe full of non-people pretending to be people
We're so brainwashed by capitalism to only think of growth and "more" that we never consider when we have enough or are doing enough. Questioning the growth imperative and cultivating a sense of enoughness can be deeply freeing and helps engender a mindset focused on solidarity and care.
