Anyone else wondering if the Torygraph's got this Bolton born small business proprietor confused with Maxine Peake?
Ta for that.
The trains were definitely running west from Huelva in 1981 but the Spanish equivalent of Dr Beeching had been there by 1986. At least the trackbed's being used.
And prior to that the train ran past Huelva on to Ayamonte; even happier days!
Seem to remember the Vila Real de Santo Antonio - Ayamonte doing an adequate job back in the day.
Perhaps something to look forward to: 25 Nov: NEWARK: Palace Theatre, 7.30pm
I see you've gotten yourself quite worked up by this.
Disgraceful - Fleur Anderson MP was "furious" about sewage before the election
So why won't she sign our letter against *14 years of illegal sewage* now on the table from Thames Water? bit.ly/4abLsX3
@fleuranderson.bsky.social do you still care about sewage?

Incredibly, no-one on Nigel Farage’s team has got round to deleting this post. It’s still live as Robert Jenrick gives his big defection speech.
Done.
🚨 An undercover sting just exposed alarming loopholes in Westminster’s weak lobbying system: a fake Chinese company bought meetings with ministers and MPs, and it may not have even broken any rules! ✍️ Sign & share: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/st...

Millions of toxic plastic beads from Southern Water have washed up on Camber Sands beach, threatening dolphins, seals, seabirds, and our beaches. Sign the petition to make sure water companies pay for the cleanup of spills like this, not their customers: 38d.gs/ds-b
Picture of Emma Hardy MP. 2024 vs 2025 “Unless owners and shareholders believe that there is a genuine risk of them losing their licence, they have no real incentive to promote good corporate behaviour or environmental performance” We would only use Special Administration “if water doesn't come out of the tap and your toilets don't flush” Water Minister Emma Hardy: on Thames Water
⚠️Thames Water is in crisis.⚠️
Government still refuses to act to protect the public.
Emma Hardy MP has changed her tune since entering government.
Stop protecting the polluters and start representing the 82% of us who want water in public ownership. Sign our petition - take back Thames Water👇
What they promised: Change "Under Labour, the NHS will always be publicly owned and publicly funded." Labour Party Manifesto 2024 What they're doing: "Ministers have handed firms £6m in contracts to help devise plans to build a network of new NHS clinics using private capital, despite fears the move could turn into a PFI-style disaster." The Guardian 24th September 2025 we own it
The government wants to bring back private finance in our NHS. 🤬
This would harm patients by siphoning off hundreds of millions of pounds in profits from our NHS. 🤑
Rachel Reeves and Wes Streeting, you can still drop these disastrous and unpopular plans. Share if you agree.
😡This must be stopped!
Labour's 2024 manifesto promised our NHS would always be "publicly owned and publicly funded".
Now they are talking about reintroducing PFI into our NHS.
PFI would set a ticking time bomb under our NHS that will blow up in patients' faces - ACT NOW.

Image of professor dieter helm, with We Own It logo above him. Quote reads: 'The government has been paralysed by three fears. First, that once a Special Administrator is brought in, its backbenchers will push for full renationalisation. Most of them, at least privately, like this option'. Sir Dieter Helm Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford. In bottom right corner there is a 'dripping' Thames Water logo
🚨Thames Water is in crisis! 🚨
82% of us want publicly owned water. If MPs truly represent us, they must reflect OUR views.
Take 1 minute to get your MP to pledge to make Thames Water public. 👇
Image of water treatment works by a lake. Headline below reads: Lake District Most of Windermere polluted with sewage bacteria, finds biggest survey of its kind Exclusive: Concentrations of faecal bacteria in the lake were found to peak in summer but there were high levels throughout year
Fancy a swim this summer? 🤔
You might want to think twice. The private water companies continue to vandalise our lakes and rivers, whilst laughing all the way to the bank. 🤑
No amount of regulation will stop this. We need public ownership NOW!

Dominic Grieve. 👏👏👏
Screenshot of a newspaper article with a photograph of a Thames Water vehicle behind safety barriers, alongside a figure dressed in orange safety overalls. The headline reads "Charity action against minister for failing to act over Thames Water". The sub-heading reads "River Action says failure to publish and put into practice policy on nationalisation of failing water firms is unlawful".
🤞Best of luck to @riveractionuk.bsky.social for challenging Government's failure to act on the Thames Water crisis.
👍Special administration is the first step to getting water working for people not profit.
🏆Public ownership has to be the next step.
