Hammajang Luck: A Novel Ocean’s 8 meets Blade Runner in this trail-blazing debut queer science fiction novel and swashbuckling love letter to Hawai'i about being forced to find a new home and striving to build a better oneβ€”unmissable for fans of Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Edie is done with crime. Eight years behind bars changes a personβ€”costs them too much time with too many of the people who need them most. And it’s all Angel’s fault. Her former partnerβ€”and the woman she can’t forgetβ€”sold Edie out in what should have been the greatest moment of their lives. Instead, Edie was shipped off to the icy prison planet spinning far below the soaring skybridges and neon catacombs of Kepler space stationβ€”of homeβ€”to spend the best part of a decade alone. But then a chance for early parole appears out of nowhere and Edie steps into the pallid sunlight to find none other than Angel waitingβ€”and she has an offer. One last job. One last deal. One last target. The trillionaire tech god they failed to bring down last time. There’s just one thing Edie needs to doβ€”trust Angel againβ€”which also happens to be the last thing Edie wants to do. What could possibly go all hammajang about this plan?

On this day in 1973, the Gov’t Printing Office agreed that β€œMs.” was an acceptable optional identifying label in gov’t publications. Feminists had fought for recognition of the Ms. honorific, which enabled women to present themselves in public without foregrounding their marital status. #WeTheMen

But in public, definitely not.

Buddy Dog in Framingham. And I can't remember where Dina got Rory, but I'll ask--I think that was the second time she adopted from there, so an endorsement. (Bookstore visits will be a must, yes?)

Out of curiosity (I'm so far behind in my own order tracking...) is this first received date, or order complete?

(Let us not discuss the Ingram order I checked on today, sent 11/28 with an estimated packing date of 12/12...)

If you haven't visited us at 1815 Mass Ave yet, or if it's been awhile since you have, here is a tour of the space! It took a bit to figure it out, but we love the combination of bright open spaces, cozy hidden corners, & comfy places to sit that we've created in this much larger space.

I can’t promise that this is the first time a Canadian publisher of a beloved children’s book series has publicly condemned the bloodthirsty US secretary of defense’s use of its imagery to smirkingly defend heinous war crimes. I mean who can say.

He, at least, didn't subject the rest of us to knowing about it. (Of course, if he'd had his way we wouldn't have known about the famous one either, and his time as governor might have ended differently.)

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.
