Update: I might need to continue using Animate for now. i can't find a way yet to easily replicate line variation in CS5.5. I had designed these characters specifically for Animate.

if you're looking for FBF, then so far I've found Harmony Advanced to be the most manageable. Harmony has "symbols" in it, but I haven't played with it much as the peg system does best in that environment. unfortunately I haven't yet found another program that does symbols like Flash did. :\

i'm not sure if you're looking for FBF or puppet, but if this relates to puppets, I've found Moho to be the closest equivalent so far. the Smart Bones feature and Switch Layers can store drawings & timelines similar to symbols, but those are mostly for puppet needs. not sure if that works for FBF.

I'm glad my old copy of Flash CS5.5 still runs great! Animate's on the left, Flash CS5.5 on the right.
All of the newer paintbrush line stuff is missing, so I'll have to do some workarounds & manual down-porting. otherwise, not as bad as I thought it'd be to save my rigs!

oh dang you're right, yeah that was very easy to miss in the email, thank you for clarifying! I can work with a year haha, that makes a lot more sense to me. Still not happy about this news, but that's at least a lot easier to plan around for my personal projects. 😅

wow, this sucks. I knew something was probably up when Animate hadn't seen any development in a while, but I didn't think the axe would come down with only one month's notice.

guess i'm re-subbing to Animate for one month to quickly downgrade my Doog Xmas and Mitri & Doog rigs to CS5.5??

I’ve done both, but I often claim more of the easiest shots for myself before I either select or let folks choose. It helps me make sure I’m putting enough of my own time into directing and helps set a common bar in anim for workload, while helping give value to both the animators and clients.
