More signs of spring! 🥰 The blossom of Cherry Plum (Prunus cerasifera), Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris), and snowdrops (Galanthus sp.). I'm not sure if these are Greater Snowdrop (G. elwesii) or Green Snowdrop (G. woronowii). If anyone can say for sure, please post a comment!
Life from death. A single stump provides nutrition and support for King Alfred’s Cakes (Daldinia concentrica), Turkey-tail (Trametes versicolor), ivy (Hedera sp.), mosses, and probably all manner of invertebrates. A reminder to leave dead wood where it is; it's the basis of so many energy webs.

Lecanora chlarotera is the large grey-white one at the top, Arthonia radiata is the darker speckled one below it, and Lecidella elaeochroma is the grey-green one with black spots at top-right.
The beauty of small things always fascinates me. Growing on a sickly Ash (probably due to ash dieback), three lichen species & evidence of wood-boring beetles (the small black holes). The lichens are Lecanora chlarotera, Arthonia radiata & Lecidella elaeochroma.

A little intro to me. Birder since '94, took up pan-species listing in 2020. Particular interests in spiders, some insect groups, and slugs, especially in my garden, but love all nature. Live in Merseyside, but travel widely. Obsessive lister (love spreadsheets!), probably with some ND tendencies.
No binoculars or telescope required for any of these objects!
For those in the UK with clear skies, visible right now there’s a fantastic procession of Venus, Saturn, Jupiter (in Taurus), Orion rising, Mars next to Gemini’s twins Castor & Pollux, and Capella (in Auriga). So go out and look up! Stellarium is a great app for navigating the night sky.
Had a great morning out, despite Storm Éowyn, visiting for the first time #MarburyCountryPark in Cheshire with an old friend. This is the view of Budworth Mere, on which there were Goosanders, grebes, gulls, waders. Had my first Kingfisher of the year in the foreground willow. Stock Dove too.
