It is 1993. Times Square is still in its seedy state of that era, before its clean-up and Disneyfication. Various passerby stroll along a sidewalk at back. Above them, a phrase in black, all-caps lettering appears on a theater marquee: "MEN DON'T PROTECT YOU ANYMORE." In the foreground, we see a man standing, in jeans, a white t-shirt, and a pullover sweater. He wears sunglasses, the light reflecting off his swept-back blond hair. It is the legendary musician Kurt Cobain.
