Let me just say that having been there, the idea of being a Black woman in labor in America and having to go before a judge is terrorism.

Map of Canada with the province of Ontario highlighted. Text that reads "Recent data shows 59% of Ontario students and their families have difficulty paying tuition fees. Canadian average: 48%"
Ontario is lowering OSAP so students only receive 25% of funding through grants.
48% of Canadian students report struggling with the cost of tuition. In Ontario, that number jumps to 59%.
Federal grants are also on the chopping block.
Student support should be increasing, not decreasing.
The Palestinian Olympic Committee reports that 1,007 members of the sports community in Gaza have been killed, 265 sports facilities destroyed, and 5 athletes remain missing during the genocide.
Settler Colonialism–Genocide–Athleticide: The Destruction of Sport in Occupied Palestine in Sociology of Sport Journal Derek Silva * , Nathan Kalman-Lamb , Chen Chen , Kristi Allain , Jason Laurendeau , Janelle Joseph , Daniel Sailofsky , Shrehan Lynch , Anthony Weems , Leyla Hamed , Priyansh , Adam Ali , Roc Rochon , Zuleikha Chikh , Charlotte Phillips , Jules Boykoff , R. Although much of the literature focuses on the philosophical, ethical, and political foundations of events that are conventionally described as “genocide,” little scholarly attention has been paid to genocide in the disparate fields that make up sports studies. Even less attention has been paid to the role that sport, sporting cultures, and athletics may, or may not, play in genocide and genocidal campaigns. To address this gap, we advocate for the development of a sociology of athleticide as one possible point of departure for advancing sports studies’ understanding of the role that sport can, and often does, play in times of genocide and the impact of state violence on sport. There is no neutrality, there can be no neutrality or objectivity about Palestine : : : . There is no indifference, no objectivity, no neutrality because there is simply no room for them in a space that is as crowded and overdetermined as this one. Let Black history month serve to remind us that the living legacy of slavery is the carceral state- policing, prison, immigration detention, and border enforcement. Abolition now.

“As I document in my forthcoming book, we can’t get accountability from the ‘regular’ police, whatever that means: after decades, we haven’t been able to achieve something as basic as an honest civilian review board with subpoena powers and the ability to hire and fire officers!” —Robin D. As an Indigenous person, watching Trump make plans to invade an Indigenous territory is fucking terrifying. Everyone is making this about Denmark, but it will be Inuit facing this new wave of violent colonization.
We, the undersigned, citizens and permanent residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to: 1. Initiate investigations under The CAHWCA into Canadian citizens and residents who served in the IDF, and if warranted, lay charges or refer to international courts; 2. Cooperate with international courts by sharing findings and providing financial or law enforcement support, as exemplified by assistance to the ICC's investigation of Russian war crimes in Ukraine; 3. Direct the Canada Border Services Agency to screen Canadian citizens/residents returning from Israel for foreign military service; 4. Investigate the HESEG Foundation for violations of section 11(1) of Canada’s Foreign Enlistment Act; 5. Issue warnings that Canadians serving/volunteering with the IDF may face criminal liability under Canadian law; and 6. Create a government website to collect information from Gaza/West Bank war crime victims/witnesses, as in the case of Ukraine.
