A chart which shows the asylum appeals backlog. The backlog begins in March 2016 at about 9000. It then stays level up until 2023 when there is a substantial rise up to its current total in March 2025 at 50,976
The UK asylum appeals backlog hit a new record high in March 2025. There’s 88% more court cases in the system than last year.
The government has pledged to clear it by the end of the parliament.
