Yeah :( luckily there are still some safe and fun pockets of the fandom where I have friends who support me. So it’s not all bad, I just have to avoid certain areas. Overall I wouldn’t say I regret joining the fandom, and I definitely wouldn’t advise you not to because of my experience!

That’s been my reality unfortunately. Every day I wake up and see more people have blocked me (mostly as a result of bullying and lies being spread about me) and it really hurts. Especially when it’s the people whose works made me join the fandom in the first place. Just one day gone.

Thank you. It’s unfortunately still very much ongoing so nowadays I just use bsky at an arms length (mostly just to repost zine/event stuff). I just wish there was a better alternative than twitter 😭

Anyway maybe I’m sensitive but I do feel like blocking is a bigger deal than these people seem to think it is. It’s ok to be hurt by the fact that someone is saying they never want to interact with you again for the rest of their life. If someone said that to my face I’d be hurt.

I’m also on bsky to connect with people in my fandom so these are people I see around on other sites and who run events that I’m now effectively barred from. It’s isolating. Sometimes I feel really really alone on this site.

I really relate to this as a nd person with bpd. For someone to be saying “I never want to interact with you again” that HURTS and I kind of hate these people for acting like you shouldn’t feel hurt for getting a virtual restraining order for reasons unknown.
