Thank you, @pinktweets.bsky.social, for sharing the FCC Fairness Doctrine text. Seeing its roots in 1920s–40s radio regulation and its 1949 adoption as an FCC policy for radio (and later TV) broadcasters allowed me to be educated and recognize that I’d misapplied it in my earlier commentary.
@egrattan.bsky.social I stand corrected. I read it and on review, I see I misapplied the Fairness Doctrine in my earlier commentary. Its roots are in late‑1920s–1940s radio regulation and it became an FCC policy in 1949 for radio, later TV licensees—not the broader tool I implied. Now I know.

Let me help you out. The end of the Fairness Doctrine and the Citizens United ruling worked together to skew political power toward wealthy interests by reshaping who controls information and who can fund politics at scale.

Now that's a longer conversation about the impact of "Citizens United" and the repeal of the "Fairness Doctrine."
Still "National Security" is a fuzzy concept. It includes your list and my comments as well. It depends on the lens you view it through.
But it is still important. We cannot afford to disengage. Brief encounters matter just as much as indepth ones. No one has all the answers but we all have some questions. We may disagree but we must keep engaging! No matter what, we can't give up!
