I’ve been calling this guy a blue falcon from the beginning (an army term for a buddy f-cker) and just keeps proving me right.

I think I just got the best compliment of my life. I just got told I sound like an educator or librarian from the way that I speak. I’m not either.

I live in North Carolina. This state has been gerrymandered to hell in favor of republicans. The gop literally tried to steal a state Supreme Court seat in 2024 that was won fairly. The senate seat Cooper will replace is a republican one. You literally have no clue how big this is for us.

I just stretched my right leg and now my hamstring is cramped. I almost got a cramp in my calf too. My body needs to stop being so damn rude about getting older…

Ugh, I miss getting paid to try different foods and travel to new places, I mean that’s was the military does in part. Italy was considered a dream post for soldiers, but you had to be airborne to go (I wasn’t, mos restricted).

I learned to speak German there, so when I talk to someone who learned in school I get told I sound like I’m slurring because um speaking in a specific dialect/accent. High German (northern) is taught in school.

People don’t get that other countries have different cultures within them too. I was stationed in Bamberg, Germany (in Bavaria) and learned right away that there was a big difference between southern and northern Germany. I mean, they say “Auf weiederschauen” (awf veeder-shau-in) the south. -

Ugh, I would’ve loved to have seen that concert. I want to see them, but the good bands mostly go to Charlotte (4 hours away), sometimes Raleigh (about 1.5 from me). The last band I saw was 10 years ago and that was Deftones, good show.

I have a bunch of their albums, but that is my absolute favorite. They’re one of my favorite bands.

They weren’t just conquered, they were also colonized. The Irish people were treated as second class citizens and the English monarchy tried to strip them of their culture completely. Their language and traditions were suppressed resulting in a loss of native traditions.

I’m love learning history, it’s fascinating and there’s so much to learn from. I believe it’s so important to learn the real history, not some whitewashed version.
