In other words, to add in what we think the gospel writers forgot or didn't realize was needed.

I think we have to face the fact that preachers are trying to save themselves for Easter, and don't want to preach if they don't have to. They should have to.

A misread, I think. If the account was full of blood & gore, then the obvious point would be that death itself was supposed to stir us. But the accounts are remarkably restrained. And there is dialogue. Another goofy move some make is to add the sound of hammering nails, or re-enact women weeping.

Neither of those stories is told in such a way that they are simply vehicles for sentimentalism. But that's the implication of Carols & Readings or simple recitations of the Stations of the Cross.

No comment, no application, no questions. The meanings are supposed to be self-evident.

As terrible as just reading the Xmas story. We have a generation of adult Christians who never thought to theologize about those events. . .

Every now and then, it's worth reminding yourself that every single crisis of Trump 2.0 -- the economic downturn, the chaos in our cities, the rising health crisis, the foreign wars -- has been a direct result of their own actions.

If they'd done nothing at all, they'd be coasting comfortably.

Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Days after declaring total victory and boasting that no other military could match the US, Trump is now begging other countries β€” including China β€” to send warships to stop his Iran war from spiraling into catastrophe.

A galactic humiliation.

This entire administration is laughably incompetent.

Do you have a link to actual reporting of any sort? I don't know what to do with this sort of information shared from a no-name account.

And if you thought this was okay because you were terrified about the deficit, you also have to admit that Trump cut taxes and raised government spending. This is no "deficit cutting" administration.

Eh, why should we research Alzheimer's, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease? It's not like these issues could ever possibly affect me, personally, because I, like every Republican, have no conception of time, probability, or cause and effect, I exist in a void filled solely by malicious urges.

β€˜We Would Be Entering a Completely Different World’ What happens if oil hits $200 a barrel?

β€œIf the strait remains closed for even a month…sustained higher oil prices could plunge the world into a recession, raise borrowing costs, alter the outcome of ongoing wars, and shift the balance of global-power competition in favor of Russia and China”

The New Yorker just sent me a subscription notice with the same note that AI determined my subscription rate. My state requires them to tell me.

I canceled my decades long subscription.

I just cancelled my long time New Yorker subscription because they sent me this same note, that my new rate was determined by an AI algorithm. My state requires them to tell me, not sure about other states.

I just cancelled my subscription to The New Yorker magazine because they sent me this same note, that they were setting my subscription price according to an AI algorithm. My state requires them to tell me.

If we don't push back on this early, this is going to be commerce into the future.

Dems should run against this shit. Airlines, drugstores, all sorts of ways this can be used to gouge the shit out of people (you visit an obituary and then try to find a flight to that city, for example).

The New Yorker just sent out a subscription note with the exact same wording. I guess my state requires them to tell me if they use AI.

I will be canceling my subscription after several decades of loyal readership.

Could you comment on the terrible decision by your magazine, the New Yorker, to use AI to set our subscription rates? What an invasion of privacy. I will be canceling my subscription after several decades of readership. I'll find you in the library.

Dear New Yorker, @newyorker.com
Just got an email from you telling my new subscription rate has been determined by AI. So I thought I'd use an old fashioned way, (posting on social media) to tell you that this subscriber of decades will not be renewing.

14.03.2026 03:53 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I just got this exact same note from the New Yorker magazine. Apparently my state has a law that requires them to inform me if this is how they determined my subscription rate. This subscriber of several decades will not be renewing.
