Zionisten*

As a specific example, people mention Europran stewartship of Mesopotamian/Egyptian artifacts. "Europe is stable, it is safe" as if London, Berlin and Paris weren't bombed to hell a mere 80 years ago, with all valuable artifacts in them

I always wonder, if after the Franco-Prussian War, WW1, WW2 and the extremely militarized Iron Curtain period, how the same doesn't hugely apply to Western Europe.

Yeah, it's definitely a "Middle East" problem, and not colonial intervention and violence, genocide, ecocide, exploitation of resources, dispensational premillennialism, absurd Sykes-Picot land borders, the fossil fuel lobby, or anything else. It's just us. We're the problem.

Trying to engage with fascism as a form of philosophy does a disservice to the concept of philosophy.
Fascism is a form of symbolic magic. It has an "aura"
And I think in killing these people after a non-deserved intellectual challenge, we lost the chance to humiliate them. To target that aura.

I don't actually like my wrathful feelings of this nature, although I think in response to the horrors, we have imagined fascism to be a terrifying force, a destroyer of civilizations.
It is that, of course. But it's also just stupid. These ideas are dumb, egomaniacal and childishly cruel.

Saw NΓΌrnberg yesterday.
It's a pretty decent movie, although it's decision to humanize Nazi leaders (a descision I do not disagree with) makes me nauseous.
Viscerally, i feel humanity denied itself a crucial opportunity to publicly drown both these men and their ideology in literal pig shit.

There's no hope for progress in these conversations. Two codependent forces radicalizing each other into cruelty and racism.
I think the best way to stop this is for Israel, the most powerful of the factions, to admit its many faults, historic and current.

One of the most distressing things to me, is that when I see bullshit racist pro-Israel propaganda (mostly on FB) the comments are filled in equal measure with bloodthisty zionists and people (largely Arabs, but also Nazis) whose opposition is based on (or at least communicated in) antisemitism.

Most poralities are situational, aren't they? Mine are, anyway. Admittedly, mostly concerned with the situationality of state power. Not to dredgr up ww2 too much, but my greatest heroes broke a bunch of laws, both of state and of common moral ideals, in defense of the (more) innocent.

But this badness is not in the personal character of the vigilantes. It is the state's faillure to dispense protection and justice through the means at which it excels (laws and non-violent rehabilitative justice) to protect individuals that draws civillians to attempt, often imperfect justice.

Obviously, we have different expectations of judicial actions from states and from individuals. We expect states to dissuade individuals from hurting members of society, using the mechanisms provided by civilized statecraft.
The failure of state mechanisms, the drive towards vigilantism is bad.

The more I think about this, the more i'm confused by what you're trying to say here. I think I read that you focus on the act of "shooting in the back" as a morally wrong act regardless of who shooting and who is on the recieving end?
Bc I... don't, and never did, as long as I knew Nazis exist.

I genuinely don't really see the discontinuity. I and many people are critical of the entrenched power, where those who kill with the approval of state and financial power, for greed or for hatred, recieve state support, whereas those who take action to defend themselves and others are criminalized.

I mean, what are the legal repercussions on the trolley problem? Whoever killed Brian Johnson, the United Health CEO, may have known that this act would save many more than lives than it destroyed.
In the trolley problem, should we punish the lever-puller? Or whoever caused the trolley-problem?

I'm honestly kind of shocked by the Luigi Mangione case. The death penalty was on the table?
I genuinely didn't think that was applicable to suspects who at most committed a single murder.
Notwithstanding the obvious fact that such a "murder" should clearly be dismissed on a good-samaritan base.

I will say, I recognize that 39.2% approval rate is probably one of the lowest in US history but...
That's depressingly high. It honestly takes the wind out of my sails. Over one in three Americans think this lethal fascistic clownshow is acceptable?

It 'fits' his career as Dutch PM, where he oversaw the Ukraine referendum on EU membership in 2016, preceding Brexit and Trump, and his covid strategy, which was 'a silent Nexit' of sorts - all feeding the illiberalization of his party, Dutch govt and politics, in line with current US foreign policy
