Several dogs are also symptomatic. The virus does not infect cats or humans; however, people can carry it on their hands and clothing and unknowingly spread it between dogs. Like viral infections in humans, these illnesses can be difficult to prevent, which is why we are temporarily adjusting shelter operations as a precaution.
