I agree with nearly all of what you say, aside from the censoring of Johns tics. To censor him would be to erase him and his disability, and negate the point of the film about him.

Thrilled that Robert Aramayo won the Bafta for "I Swear". The pig ignorance displayed to the film's inspiration John Davidson for his vocal tics at the ceremony disgusts me to punching level. Apparently John should have not been there, or placed in a soundproof box. Like, fuck you.
