This is the most shocking thing I've read today.
This is the most shocking thing I've read today.
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Ashevilleβand the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.
This is outrageous.
How would that work at a large University, practically? I can't imagine I'd have much success asking IT staff to keep my classroom offline during exams.
Many of us have been using them for two years now. It's not a great solution, but it's really not that complicated.
There's an opportunity to question the whole approach to grades, but alas that's not a conversation we can even have.
It would be nice to prioritize learning though.
Hey OAH members. There's a post on Facebook that requires us to object. I did. Screenshot of post below and screenshots of email I sent to OAH leadership following.
Same, but once you find it you can just stop there because that's the only question that matters and the whole chart can just be that corner.
Also naive: entrusting our democratic space to politicians like Macron. Nice to see him slowly develop a conscience and some principles after being a power for about a decade though. What a hero.
Black Panther (2018)
Nice! The collage alone suggests that this could be a great teaching resource! Do you know if that was discussed? In advanced courses, students could be invited to look up the participants' publications, but I'd love to see some write up (like when conferences were live-Tweeted!).
Remember when we had a "Me Too" movement that lasted for about five minutes, imposed tangible consequences on approximately no one, and produced a hysterical, years-long backlash?
Sorry, sorry, didn't mean to distract you from the Men In Crisis storyline ...
Deserves to be carried by his team for a change!
Totally fair, although Chris here is way more honest than most.
similarly, in the US there are *far* more people working in museums than in coal mining. there are some industries that have salience as 'working people' and 'hearts of the community' (often after decades of intentional managed decline) and some that do not.
You know youβre winning when you post βWe are NOT the Gestapo!β
Not to mention, always moving the goalposts to the right of the political field end up with everyone accusing you of being a radical leftist for opposing genocide or deporting babies. No point in winning elections if you re killing democracy in the process.
You canβt say criminals donβt deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.
That's a lot of statues.
One of the most shocking things I have read for a while:

This is truly whatβs happening. Get the βI canβt believe itβ out of your head. Weβre here
There's been a LOT going on, but the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case really deserves all of our attention. Some thoughts at CAMPAIGN TRAILS:

"Still, legal analysts have raised questions about the legality of sending US citizens to prisons abroad."
what are we doing here. it is illegal. there is literally zero question that it is illegal. what is this 'raised questions' stuff.
bloomberg: ~90% of deported migrants to el salvador had no criminal record

Over the past two decades, Paris has eliminated 50,000 parking spaces, turned car lanes into bike paths and added green space. The results are in.

The Times of Israel, December 20,2024: Netanyahu wonβt attend Auschwitzβs liberation anniversary event, fearing arrest by Poland.
Just an incredible, damning headline.
Thanks fur putting this together. Could you add me?
I can't remember a very clear chance before Diaz and Salah's post in the second half, but they should win this have 99/100 for sure. This Slot team is a fascinating watch.
I love that there's never a dull game. Can't help wonder if we get a win without the saints' gifts today. Exciting week ahead!
