I'm confused why ordering a dirty oatmilk chai (which I almost did this morning but switched to a lavender honey oatmilk latte - delicious) is wasting someone's time when these items are on the menu for an establishment that is presumably hoping and trying to sell them to and make them for people??
Our findings suggest room for both quality improvement and more empirical research on what matters to patients/families in ethics consultation & making ethics consultation more accessible.

It was great to see so many hospitals have information publicly available about ethics consultation, including how to request one.
Yet we found that information other studies have shown matter to patients is often lacking including who performs them & whether costs are associated with them.
Our protocol used a recent list of "top" 100 adult hospitals & searched ethics-related terms on their hospital website & via a Google search.
We found most (88%) had information on their websites about ethics services with 79% indicating patients & families may request those services.
Previous studies suggest that many people don't know about ethics consultation, but once they learn about it they'd be interested in using ethics resources in the future.
We presumed that people looking for ethics resources might search online & decided to see what hospitals advertise about ethics.
Many US hospitals/health systems have ethics consultant resources available to patients & surrogate decision-makers, yet most people outside of healthcare (and some inside of it too) don't know about ethics consultation.

Agreed! We live on the western edge of our time zone and sunrise will be 8am on Monday morning. But my 8-year-old has to walk to school by 7:40am. It’s a safety issue, too.
Except it isn’t great for health.
Many studies say the same thing. “Either permanent standard time or permanent daylight saving time would be healthier than our seasonal waffling, with permanent standard time benefiting the most people.”
