I raise you "ignore with purpose". My brain likes to veer into hopelessness, so I'm steering clear of news to steer myself into the arts and supporting my community. I can't singlehandedly change the world but I can try to help my neighbor have a better day. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

You know what, I actually have. I'm no Internet celeb or business owner so I deleted IG, FB, and new TikTok. Went through my craft stuff today and remembered my old hobbies. Started a new painting. Working on a new language. Excited to be me again without constant comparison or "inspiration".

The overall sentiment is: healthcare, wages, school safety, childcare, food costs, food quality, housing, social rights, etc - politicians can't agree on ANY of these things, yet they read this bill and decided that a social collective joy should be cut as well. Under the guise of DATA SAFETY.

And for the ban of this connection tool to come at a time when we're already sensitive to our politics, the reaction to the removal of this tool is heightened. It's not about TikTok. It's just the last straw breaking us when we need our communities the most, and shows us where our govt stands.

It's not about TikTok. Not completely. Obviously there are small businesses and communities who depend on TT - separate issue. This ban is about our social connection being such a governmental threat that its demolition gets hidden in a humanitarian aid bill and approved by our leaders.
